Top Ten Sights to See in America : Part II

Remember The Bucket List with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman?  Two men, faced with their mortality, set out to do all the things they’ve never had the chance to do before they die.  Each of us has our own bucket list of must dos and must sees.  Perhaps with a bit more chipper than the gravity instilled story of Morgan and Jack, we’ve developed a list of our top ten sights to see before you kick your own bucket.  Better yet, these are all in the backyard of the good old U.S.A.

Here’s our Final Four!

4. New Orleans

The city of New Orleans was wiped away during Hurricane Katrina in 2005.  Before that, New Orleans was a mixture of bright light culture and so much sound, musicians piled out onto every street corner.  The devastation of Katrina flooded 80% of the city in what most have called the single worst civil engineering mistake in the history of America.  The city’s residents were resilient, however and have since rebuilt much of the highlights and landmarks that made New Orleans famous.  Home of Mardi Gras, the American equivalent to Carnival,  New Orleans specializes in the best of Cajun cuisine.  There really isn’t a city much like it.  This is simply because of the amazing people that inhabit this festive, swamp-side city.  After Katrina, the city rose up together to rebuild and the world has really never seen anything like that before or since.  We probably won’t.  For the culture and the cuisine alone, we rank New Orleans as number four.  Just make sure you go down during Mardi Gras to get the full effect of the proud and loud city.

3. Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls, sitting between Canada and New York State, has the highest flow rate of any waterfall in the world.  With a drop of 165 ft., Niagara is a once and a lifetime sight to behold.  Host to millions of tourists and famous for it’s unbridled natural wonderment, Niagara Falls is a high traffic area surrounded by attractions on both sides of the boarder.  Unforgettably for America, most of the fun comes from Cliffton Hill Amusement Area on the Canadian side, but the American side has it’s appeal as well.  Just seeing the falls, however, is satisfaction enough.  It is the only natural attraction on our list and for good reason.  Niagara Falls is unbelievable up close.  We like it as our number three.

2. Disney World

Number two on our list is a place where fantasy and fairy tales infuse with the real world.  Bottom line, there just simply is no other place in the world like it.  Our number two is the Florida based fun land, Disney World.  Opening the kingdom gates in 1971, Disney World was meant to be a larger version of it’s California counterpart, Disney Land.  Since that time, Disney World has expanded into a small city of entertainment, resorts and attractions.  Spanning over 30,000 acres and with four separate theme parks (and two water parks), Disney World is the most visited a entertainment resort on Earth.  It is hard to argue with Disney when they claim it to be a magical place, because if you’ve ever been there, you understand how unique and wonderful it really is.  With a little bit of everything for everyone and a lot more for your inner child, Disney World has been considered the happiest place on the planet.  Again, we can’t argue because Disney World is the very definition of awesome.  It is so big, in fact, that you cannot possibly see everything in one day (or two for that matter).  Disney has worked hard on their theme parks, but Disney World seems to have taken on a life of it’s own.  It truly is the Magical Kingdom.

1. New York City

At last, we’ve arrived at our number one on the list; New York City.  Many have compared this monstrous island city of towering skyscrapers and travelling citizens as the modern day equivalent to ancient Rome.  It is the hub of modern day culture, often leading the way in art, music, business and entertainment.  NYC is the most populated city in America and home to the United Nations.  In terms of sights, NYC is brimming with landmarks and must sees.  The Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Broadway, Wall Street, and the list goes on.  The arguably greatest sight in all of the world, however, has to be Time Square.  It’s where the ball drops during New Years, but more aesthetically, it appears as if all of the world collides and intersect into Time Square.  In fact, it is affectionately nicknamed “The Crossroads of the World” for that very reason.  It is also home to some of the best universities in the world (Brown and Columbia to name a few).  Many people never get the chance to visit The Big Apple, but many more do.  It is the city that never sleeps and it’s influence on the world can be seen everywhere you look.  In terms of must see, it is a no-brainer, a slam dunk.  New York City is our number one sight to see in America.

That concludes our list of Top Ten Sights to See in America.  We thank you for sticking with us and hope you enjoyed our list.  Like always, we encourage you to visit us at www.OneStopMotors.com and to check back with us again as we look to continue our blog coverage.  Until next time, happy trails.
